My level of Blog-i-ness?
Ok so obviously I am not much of a blogger... but I do want to share the inside scoop on my art. Let you in on why I create the things I do and what inspires me.
So while I'm figuring this out I hope you'll bear with me.
My goal is to post at least once a week, and to make sure that each post is relevant. I want to keep the content focused on the story behind my art, my methods when it comes to painting, and my story along the way to working at making art my life.
Sorry, but no food pictures or descriptions on my favorite shows. Art is kinda all I'm good at... all I talk about. Yeah- I'm a lonely artist hermit. Don't get me wrong though, I like it that way. It is definitely more of a lifestyle than a hobby for me.
Now today's actual content: Artist's Play Dress-up
Being an artist, you wear a ton of different hats, or aprons I suppose. Sure there is the fun part: the art. Then there's everything else from photography, to marketing, to inventory management. If you're starting out as an artist one of the best things I can recommend is that you don't try to be perfect. You just do it.
Making mistakes is par for the core, just remember the only way to succeed in art is to put it out there. Jump in, flounder a little, and then realize that you are in a shallow river. You can walk it. Trust me, I know how scary the water looks but once you start moving forward it gets easier. My mistake has always been researching instead of acting.
To start off you mostly just need to focus on getting people to see what you're creating. You can't connect with people is no one knows to look. The best method as of today is Social Media. Create an account and start with you friends and family. Then grow your audience with all those radical pictures of your art. Create those raving fans your day dreaming about, and be real.
Honesty is the best policy. Figure out who you are, what you stand for, and then share that as much as you share your art. I'm not saying I got it all figured out, and I know how difficult all this can be. I can say that because these tips are the things I know I need to work on the most. What I have the most difficulty with. At least I can say I'm trying, can you do the same?
