This is another medium in acrylic ink, which as a wash is very similar to watercolor. I was thinking about the way that a person can look into a reflection and see something different depending on their mood… like how you look beautiful and confident to yourself but once you get outside you begin to feel like the person in the mirror is anything but beautiful and confident. The way we see ourselves matters and at times it is the difference between being a hunter or being the prey. The mirror shows us what we look for and it also shows how you feel even if the physical person hasn’t changed. If that makes sense to you then you might understand where I was coming from with this piece. The idea that you may look like a person but feel like a tiger inside. You walk and talk from behind the mask but inside you are fierce and burning with the need to take charge. Maybe when you slip a hand into the water you find out that what stares back is more than how you feel, its who you are. A tiger in human form, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A concept we have known before and questioned throughout the ages… if we feel like something else then does that make it true? If we act like something else does that make it what we are? Thinking about this I painted from the perspective of the person who looks at a pool and what I think they would see. A human hand, but a Tigers reflection.
